Supervision is a confidential & collaborative clinical learning environment based on mutuality between the supervisor & the supervisee. Some of the roles of a supervisor are to:
Intercultural Supervision aims to develop the cultural competence of Counsellors & Psychotherapists utilizing ancient Afrikan wisdom, philosophy & principalities; enhancing the ability to work with 'difference and diversity' in a culturally and spiritually sensitive way.
In addition to typical mental health presenting issues & therapeutic relationship dynamics, consideration is given to the supervisee & clients racial, ethnic and spiritual background. Development of the therapists intercultural consciousness, self-perceptions & understanding is supported to increase their process of personal growth and transformation, which enhances transpersonal experiences and the therapeutic relationship.
Supervision at Aya Training & Development is provided by Beverley J Weston. Her Euro-centric theoretical foundation is Integrative Psychodynamic, influenced by CBT, Humanistic & Intercultural perspectives. Ubuntu philosophy & indigenous wisdom principalities are integrated to create a wholistic fusion of Western psychology & global majority intercultural understanding.
Many different approaches are combined to accommodate the needs of the supervisee & the client, considering the impact of culture, ethnicity and spirituality on individuals regardless of race, gender or sexuality; inclusive of both the therapist/counsellor & client.
If you are a counselling/psychotherapy trainee finding the right supervisor can be challenging, especially if you are on a training course with ridged requirements. Beverley meets the criteria as a clinical supervisor &/or therapist for trainees studying at the following London based institutions:

She holds a masters degree in psychotherapy & has many years experience as a mental health speaker, presenter & trainer.
Beverley identifies as an expert by experience & in passionate about supporting professionals upskill and service users heal from complex trauma.
